Oneta Facts
REDUCED EMISSIONS
OP consumes 40% less fuel per megawatt hour produced than conventional plants while also reducing emissions.
1.1 MILLION HOMES
Electricity generated from OP will produce enough electricity to power more than 1,150,000 area homes.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
In addition to selling electrical output, Oneat employees are involved in the local community and the plant routinely provides donations to local charities.
ABOUT OUR PROCESS
Combined-cycle power generation uses natural gas to produce two forms of energy: steam and electricity.
Burning natural gas drives a turbine generator that produces electricity. Hot exhaust gasses from the turbine are then routed to a heat recover steam generator.
Heat from the heat recovery system generator is absorbed by circulating water; producing steam to power a steam turbine generator that produces additional electricity.
The steam is then condensed back into water and recirculated through the heat recovery steam generator where the process begins again.
